Why We Recommend A High-Quality Septic Treatment

  • 5 min read

Key Points

  • The “traditional” wisdom about septic systems can be bad advice. Yeast only breaks down one type of macromolecule in your septic tank, and baking soda does little to help the bacteria in your tank. Also, without knowing the PH of your tank, baking soda can actually cause bigger problems.
  • Putting yogurt, chopped tomatoes, sugar, or cornmeal into your septic tank doesn’t make that big of a difference either. Yogurt only breaks down some of the waste in your tank, tomatoes can lead to bigger problems if you don’t first know the PH level in your tank, and sugar and cornmeal won’t help the bacteria in your tank to work more effectively.
  • A high-quality septic treatment will introduce new beneficial bacteria into your septic tank, replacing bacteria that have died and boosting the performance of your system overall.
  • Septic System Digester contains an exclusive blend of beneficial bacteria that has been scientifically proven to maximize the breakdown of septic waste. Septic System Digester is a high-quality and effective product that stands out from the competition.

We can all pretty much agree: mounds of gold are better than handfuls of silver. And when it comes to septic systems, using a high-quality septic treatment product can make all the difference over run-of-the-mill products, keeping your system running smoothly and eliminating hassles for you. This article will show you exactly why you should use a high-quality product in your septic system.

Homemade Septic Treatments and "Hacks"

First, you need to understand why the “traditional” wisdom about septic systems can be bad advice. Many of you may have heard of putting yeast in your septic tank or using a yeast-based product to help break down waste. The problem with this approach is that yeast only breaks down ONE type of macromolecule found in septic waste, which basically means that the waste in your tank won’t get completely broken down. In the same way, some septic wisdom encourages people to use baking soda in their septic systems, but baking soda does very little to help out the bacteria in your septic tank other than buffering PH levels, which is entirely unnecessary. In fact, without knowing your starting PH level, you could be making the problem even worse! The bacteria in your tank thrive in neutral PH levels between 6.5 and 7.5, and if you accidentally push the PH level beyond these bounds, the bacteria can’t break down waste as efficiently, which, in turn, can lead to clogs and backups.

What about things like yogurt, chopped tomatoes for PH regulation, or “at home treatments” like sugar or cornmeal? Again, though yogurt does contain beneficial bacteria, it only breaks down a small portion of the macromolecules in your septic tank. So, although it theoretically could help, it is not very effective (and it could be expensive to buy enough yogurt to make a difference!). With chopped tomatoes, the answer is even more clear cut. First off, you never want any sort of raw food waste in your septic tank. It can cause clogs, and it won’t break down effectively. Moreover, like we said above, you likely don’t know the current PH level in your tank, which means that adding PH-boosting foodstuffs to your tank can actually cause more problems.

As for so-called “at home treatments” like sugar or cornmeal, the waste in your septic tank is already feeding the bacteria. In other words, you don’t need to feed the bacteria any more than they’re already being fed. Also, as a result of putting foodstuffs down your drains, there is the unlikely (but possible) chance that a bloom of the wrong bacteria could develop in your tank, creating a monopoly of that bacteria and causing some waste in your tank to not break down. All in all, adding sugar or cornmeal is completely unnecessary, and as with the yogurt, it could be expensive to buy all that sugar and cornmeal!

Though perhaps tantalizing, the above “hacks” of septic care don’t really do very much for your septic system. It’s probably best to save your yeast, baking soda, and yogurt for better uses!

High Quality Septic Treatments

Now, with all the “traditional” wisdom out of the way, what does a high-quality septic treatment do that makes it a better choice? The purpose of a high-quality septic treatment is to do the following:

  • Introduce more beneficial bacteria into the septic system. Over time, the bacteria in your tank will begin to die off. Therefore, using a high-quality septic treatment can help to replace bacteria and boost your numbers overall.
  • Introduce more efficient bacteria into your septic system. Not all bacteria are created equal. Some kinds work more effectively than others, and we made sure to select the highest performing strains of bacteria (used in Unique Septic System Digester) that break down waste most effectively. In essence, these bacteria are especially aggressive eaters. Therefore, physically introducing more efficient bacteria can drastically improve the performance of your septic system overall.

With higher counts of more efficient bacteria, there will be less waste that builds up in your septic system, which means you won’t have to pump out your septic tank as often. Additionally, using a high-quality septic treatment can help to break down residues in your lateral line system (your leach field), which means your system will last longer and run more proficiently.

Maybe you’ve been using mediocre septic treatments for years, and you’ve had no problems. Why should you use a high-quality product if it’s not necessary? Well, septic systems can be tricky at times. With a mediocre product, a system may run perfectly for months or even years, but one day a problem (or more likely a host of problems) might suddenly crop up and create a fiasco for you. It’s our advice that solving the problem early at its source is a better option than waiting for something to go wrong.

For all the above-mentioned reasons, we recommend Unique Septic System Digesteras a high-quality, effective treatment for your septic system. There are several reasons why Septic System Digester is the best product for your system:

  • Septic System Digester utilizes a proprietary blend of scientifically selected bacteria that maximize the breakdown of the waste components found in a septic system.
  • Some competitor products use lesser quality bacteria or even contain unsafe bacteria, such as salmonella. Like we said before, not all bacteria are created equal, and we made sure to use only the best.
  • Unique’s bottling facility only handles high-quality bacteria, meaning you don’t have to be concerned about contamination.
  • Septic System Digester has more than double the bacteria count found in our leading competitor.
  • Some competitors’ products also show inconsistent bacteria counts, meaning you could get a good box, or you could get a bad box and receive less benefit from the product.
  • Septic System Digester showed consistent (and high) bacteria counts in lab testing.
  • Other competitors have designed their products to treat a 1000-gallon tank, meaning you have to dose 1.5 times as much if you are on an average 1,500-gallon tank.

A high-quality product like Septic System Digester can greatly maximize the performance of your septic tank. When used regularly, Septic System Digester will keep your septic system running smoothly for years to come.
