Email Support Call SupportA clog is normally formed by waste and debris accumulating inside your plumbing lines and pipes. This can be hair, paper, or any number of other things that can rinse down the drain, accumulate in one localized clump, and cause water to backup. Super Digest-It works by introducing specially formulated waste-digesting bacteria and enzymes to the mass that is clogging your pipes. Over time these bacteria and enzymes will break down and digest the organic matter that is binding this clog together, allowing the debris to fall apart and wash down the line, thus clearing your clogs. The enzymes and bacteria contained in Super Digest-It are specially designed to break down fats, oils, proteins, carbohydrates, grease, and paper.
Believe it or not, hair is a very resilient form of organic matter. We jokingly mention this to customers often by pointing out that when they visit a mummy exhibit at the museum, often the mummies still have tufts of hair on their heads! So unfortunately, hair does not break down easily. But don’t worry! Super Digest-It is effective at breaking down the scum and organic material that is binding the hair together, forming a clog. When you digest this scum with Super Digest-It, you allow the hair to slip out of the clump and down the drain, restoring the drain to it’s normal function. So, technically speaking, Super Digest-It will not eat or digest the hair, but it can solve drain problems that are caused by hair.
FYI - The only way to really dissolve hair is by burning through it. This is how most drain cleaners work. They use caustic chemicals to literally burn through the clog. This is problematic, because they tend to burn holes where they touch, never fully removing the waste. Just making a hole through the middle of it that can refill itself and form a new clog. Also, be weary of products that claim to be safe and natural, but also claim they can burn through hair. The process that is required to burn hair is far from safe, and to our knowledge there is no “natural” way of doing that. You’re probably being mislead by other brands making these claims.
We recommend using 8 ounces. Because the bacteria replicate as they work, soon you’ll have billions upon billions of bacteria working away at the clog. Basically, more is not necessary. If you do use more than 8 ounces of Super Digest-It, don’t worry! It won’t hurt anything. If you are looking for a way to make Super Digest-It “stronger”, instead of adding more Super Digest-It to your clog we recommend giving it more time. The way Super Digest-It works doesn’t really rely on more being used. It tends to respond better to more time so the bacteria and enzymes have ample time to do their jobs.
We recommend applying Super Digest-It at bedtime so the drain will not be used. After you've applied the drain cleaner, let it sit overnight so the bacteria and enzymes have ample time to break up and digest the clog.
We often suggest that people close the drain stoppers in their sink and fill the sink with warm water. THEN add the Super Digest-It to the warm water. Let this sit for about 15 minutes before releasing the drain stopper. The warm water will encourage the healthy bacteria to grow, essentially jumpstarting the enzyme activity so Super Digest-It can work quicker. Then, let the product work overnight. Some especially tough clogs may require a second treatment.
One of the many great things about Super Digest-It is it’s ability to be used in a toilet! Here’s how you do it:
You can! Mix 8 ounces of Super Digest-It with 16 ounces of very warm water and allow 15 minutes for mix to activate. Then, pour the solution down the bathtub drain and let sit overnight. The longer you let it sit the better so the bacteria and enzymes have ample time to chew up and digest the waste that is clogging the line. Repeat if necessary.
There are few reasons why Super Digest-It may be having problems:
1. The bacteria powering Super Digest-It are living organisms and the use of certain products can inhibit them - or totally kill them. Antibacterial soap, cleaning products, or toothpaste can accumulate inside the drains and kill or slow down the bacteria that make Super Digest-It work. You may have to apply Super Digest-It two or three times to fully rid your pipes of these detrimental products. After you have done this, you should see better results from Super Digest-It.
2. You may need more than one application. Some clogs are particularly tough and the bacteria needs to be applied a few times before they can full digest the waste and release the clog.
3. Hair clinging to the drain plug. Sometimes hair wraps around the drain plug (aka drain stopper). Bacteria and enzymes cannot eat hair so make sure you pull out the drain plug and remove any hair that has become attached to it before you treat your drains with Super Digest-It. If you feel that there is a large amount of hair down the line, we recommend using a hair removal snake to physically remove the hair.
4. We’ve found that Super Digest-It is effective at solving 98% of slow-running and clogged drains. We hate to say it, but if you’ve used all of the tips we’ve given you here and you still have problems, unfortunately you may be part of the 2% where Super Digest-It just can’t solve your problem. So, what’s going on? Option 1: There may be something down your drain that bacteria and enzymes can’t digest (An example would be a toy that is dropped down the line). Option 2: The clog is just so significant in size or severity that you’re going to need to call in reinforcements. Sometimes you may have to bring in a plumber who can use physical processes to remove the line blockage.
Yes you can! Unlike most drain cleaners, Super Digest-It is safe for use in garbage disposals. Just follow the instructions for “Clogged Drains” on the label, or refer to the FAQs on this page. we’ve mentioned above. Super Digest-It can even help deodorize your garbage disposal by digesting the food particles that cause odor.
Yes. Super Digest-It contains no caustic or corrosive chemicals and can be used safely and effectively in metal pipes.
Yes. Super Digest-It is safe for use in all types of plumbing, including clay pipes.
Yes. Super Digest-It is a great option for preventing drain problems before they happen if you treat your drain lines on a monthly basis. You can find instructions on the label that will walk you through the process of Regular Drain Maintenance.
Yes, Tea Tree Oil has natural antibacterial properties that can kill the active bacteria in Super Digest-It. To properly clean your drains, discontinue the use of products containing Tea Tree Oil until Super Digest-It has fully unclogged your pipes. Also, please be aware that Tea Tree Oil can be a contributor to backed up and slow running drains.
Yes. Here is how we recommend you do this:

As soon as your package is boxed-up and a shipping label has been generated, you will receive a Shipping Confirmation email. This email will include your tracking number. You can click on this tracking number to see where your package is currently located.

All of our products have a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacturing. To find the date your product was manufactured, look at the first 6 digits of the code stamped on the bottle. This is the date it was produced (MM/DD/YY).
If your product is older than 2 years, don’t assume it’s a lost cause. We keep retains of every batch we make, going back 15+ years, and the products still work to their full capacity. It’s highly likely that yours will too - even if it is older than 2 years.
